I'm beginning to think that having a dead iPod in a drawer somewhere is the 21st-century equivalent of vinyl records in the garage: you can't use it, but you just don't want to throw it away.
The records at least are theoretically useful - you could (even though you never will) go out and buy a new turntable.
I think it's more like the abandoned, non-functional automobile parked on the front lawn. There *must* be value in there somewhere, if only someone would just come along and fix it...
